You will be accommodated in Vérité. It is a multi-faceted project within Auroville, the international “city for human unity” founded in 1968, based on the principles of Mother and Sri Aurobindo’s Integral yoga. Since its inception in 1985, Vérité has focused on ecological concerns, health and wellness, collective process and spiritual “practice-in-action” in its efforts to become a center for integral development in service to Auroville and its guests.

Vérité features sustainable infrastructure, alternative energy principally solar, a community-based guest house, organic garden, orchard, and kitchen, and facilities for classes, retreats, and other programs. There will be free Wi-Fi available in the guest lounge, although signals can be weak or sometimes down as it is in a forest area.

Vérité offers a unique setting for individuals and groups that are searching for living, working examples of alternatives to the conventional approaches to life on this planet. Vérité explore what it means to live, learn, work, and develop integrally.

Nowadays, yoga retreats have become very popular and it is like a worldly affair. There, at Soham Soul Space yoga retreat, they have a very unique concept about yoga retreat and it is not just another worldly trip, rather it is a short withdrawal from the thickness of all worldly activities and live in the space of soul in order to enrich your life with love, happiness, health, and harmony.

All the worldly activities dissipates your vital energy deposit, unless you find some means to recharge the body – mind mechanism on regular basis. If you are not connected with your core being, then you may fall sick physically and mentally. If you provide the right condition, the body can heal and rejuvenate itself. The body is such a perfect mechanism with great intelligence in operation to keep it healthy and functional.

The only thing needed is that you need to align with the laws of health and happiness. Internal relaxation, proper exercise – yoga, proper breathing – pranayama, healthy food, and positive state of mind are the condition required for recuperating your health and well-being. Accordingly, Soham Holistic Yoga School have developed a yoga retreat program which fulfills all these aspects of right living to help people regain their health and well-being.

The retreat is based on the holistic approach of yoga addressing all levels of existence so that you experience holistic health and happiness. The yoga style that you will follow is known as Soham Holistic Yoga which has been developed by Soham John after a long period of research and his personal experience of 20 years as a yoga teacher and the consultation with eminent masters and medical doctors to find the most suitable yoga style for the modern time.

The yoga has just turned to be physical exercise and acrobatics in the modern time ignoring the great value of yoga as a spiritual science and the time-tested practice to heal the diseases. Yoga is a meditation-oriented practice to balance the flow of energy and activate the energy centers – chakras, so that one experiences the fullness of life and bliss. Join if you are ready for a positive transformational experience in life along with the expansion of consciousness.

You will have two yoga sessions daily. You will be practicing asanas, doing pranayama, Soorya Namaskar, and kriya, etc. There will be regular guided meditation in the morning. You will have a regular evening satsangh with Soham John. Satsangh is informal way of talk, interaction, and group meditation to enrich one own’s inner self.

The following topics will be discussed in the satsang such as yoga – the science of health and spirituality, yoga philosophy based on the text of yoga sutra, Pathanjali, happiness analysis, nadi system, Kundalini and chakras, chakra balancing, samadhi – the last stop of inner journey, and meditation – the art of stabilizing in self. There will be a daily yoga Nidra, a yogic technique to induce deep relaxation to body and mind.

During this retreat, each client will get one session of Ayurvedic rejuvenating massage, Reiki healing, and yogic counseling. Each member will be supplied with a yoga book – The Essential Lessons of Yoga, authored by Soham John and a yoga DVD developed by Soham Holistic Yoga School. This will help the members to follow the holistic yoga practice after the retreat at home referring the yoga book and DVD.

Included excursions

You will have one to visit to world famous Ramanshram – spiritual monastery at Thiruvannamalai in the name of Sri Ramana Maharishi who is the greatest guru in the modern time, for a deep meditation in the very vibrant ashram meditation hall.

The other important places are Arunachala holy mountain, Skandashram cave where Sri Ramana Maharishi meditated, and other shrines nearby. You will also visit the Auroville Beach, Aurbindo ashram, Pondicherry beach, and go for trekking in Auroville township.


Soham John

Soham John is a world renowned yoga Guru with 25 years experience in yoga teaching and holistic healing. His mission and teachings took him to several countries across the globe. Being a registered medical practitioner in alternative medicine – yoga and naturopathy, John’s qualifications also include M.Sc in Yogic Science, MA, ND, YTT Certification in Sivananda yoga and master practitioner in Reiki or pranic healing. Trained in various meditation schools such as Alpha Mind power, Vipasana, Kundalini and Zen etc, his teachings are distilled wisdom.


This retreat will take place in Auroville, Pondicherry, India. Auroville is an international township, sits between rural villages in the Villipuram district of Tamil Nadu, along the scenic Coromandel coast of southern India, some 150 kilometers south of Chennai, and about 10 kilometers north of Pondicherry town, capital of Puducherry union territory.

As an international community, Auroville has a country-side ambiance and consists of some 190 different settlements or communities spread out over 20 square kilometer.

Distances between the outlying settlements can be several kilometers. Within the Auroville area, there are several villages, local shops, and still a lot of village-owned land. The retreat takes place at Verite yoga retreat within Auroville township which has the very positive ambience to conduct the Soham Soul Space Yoga retreat.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Chennai International Airport (MAA). Taxi can be arranged by Soham Holistic Yoga School on request.

Arrival by bus

You may take the bus to Pondicherry bus station. From there, you can hire a taxi to the venue.

Arrival by train

If you are coming by train, then you can get down at Pondicherry railway station. From there, you can find a taxi to reach to your retreat place.

Arrival by taxi

You can take taxi to come to your retreat place. The journey from Chennai to Auroville takes about three hours by taxi. For international travelers, this is the safest and most convenient mode of transport.

Cancellation policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
